Can US, UK 'survive' the Zayn Malik crisis?

Coping with Zayn Malik leaving One Direction is Hollywood Gossip hard. Some turn to their friends and family for support, others go to President Obama. Find out how different members and branches of the UK and US governments are dealing with the Zayn Malik `tragedy'.

"Who the heck is Zayn Malik?" is what we're assuming President Obama wondered when he logged on to his Twitter account on Wednesday, to face a barrage of hysterical demands from teenage girls about One Direction going in two directions as Zayn announced his departure from the band. As millions of Directioners went into a mass panic attack and got #AlwaysInOurHeartsZaynMalik trending on Twitter, they turned to the US president for help.

Some wanted Obama to talk sense into Malik, saying, "@BarackObama Make Zayn stay in 1D and for them to at least have a huge break thanks (sic)," while others were concerned with the nation's welfare, tweeting, "@BarackObama please address the nation on how to proceed past this time of tragedy and honor Zayn Malik." Some took international relations into account with comments like, "@BarackObama fix the zayn situation offer england all of whatever we can spare (sic)," and yet others took to flat out bribery , saying, "@BarackObama if you bring zayn back we will make you emperor (sic)." At least the candidates of the next US presidential election know what their campaigns needs to be about.

Obama isn't the only one, however, who's got this boy band crisis on his mind. Marty Walsh, mayor of Boston, US, was posed with the question, "Why have you not yet released an official statement on the Zayn Malik situation?" during a Twitter question-and-answer session. "We are all devastated about Zayn Malik. But we must soldier on," Walsh replied.

Even former presidential candidate Mitt Romney appeared on the Jimmy Fallon Show to address the grave situation, saying, "I should talk about the important issues facing our great nation. We've got turmoil in the Middle East, an immigration crisis here at home and now, Zayn quit One Direction!" Zayn's motherland, however, rather than giving into the global heartbreak, kept calm, carried on and wondered how to tackle the issue of yet another unemployed young man. UK's Department for Work and Pensions came to the rescue by offering its services with the tweet, "Hi @zaynmalik, heard your news. Around 7,35,000 vacancies available at any time."

8 Hollywood hits that turn 25 this year

Pretty Woman
Originally conceptualised as a gritty take on prostitution, the film ended up being one of the world's most-watched romantic comedies. Richard Gere played the quintessential 'Mills and Boon' hero, successful businessman Edward Lewis who hires a hooker named Vivian (Julia Roberts). The plot of a gorgeous hooker with a heart of gold struck a chord with women all over the world. The title song, Gere and Roberts' warm chemistry and her million-dollar smile brightened up this fairytale story. It has many candid moments that continue to be referenced in romantic movies even today.

Die Hard 2
Twice more fun than its prequel, the second installment of the franchise was packed with action sequences. The film sees Bruce Willis in top form. The New York city cop-and-criminal setting is brought out realistically. It's hard for fans to not watch this on loop, even now.

Goodfellas
The Martin Scorsese classic is a period crime drama that flaunts its swagger on its sleeve. Violence and colourful language aside, who can forget Ray Liotta's immortal line from the film - 'As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster'.

The 23-year-old said: "The most Scorpio thing about me that I can share publicly-I love black, wear black exclusively."

Society needs journalists, says Kate Beckinsale

And from portraying a reporter, she now has a new found respect of the profession and its importance.

"It was weird for me to be playing the journalist but I realised quickly how important it was for my character that people were giving her information. It isn't just salacious, it isn't just what she wore in court. And if we don't have journalists we live in a police state," she said in an interview with The Guardian newspaper.

Beckinsale believes the way both actors and journalists observe situations and have the ability to disengage emotionally from events can lead people to mistakenly have a negative view of what they do.

She added: "I think it's also true that journalists and actors share some qualities. Say you're having a terrible argument with your boyfriend and you're breaking up. For an actor there's this still slight distance where you're observing the event, thinking, 'This is what it looks and feels like to be breaking up with someone.'

"I think that journalists have that same ability to step back and see things from a different perspective. That doesn't necessarily make the journalist an a**ehole, any more than it does the actor."

Beckinsale stars in the film, directed by Michael Winterbottom, with Daniel Bruhl, Cara Delevingne and Genevieve Gaunt.

Kate Hudson loves skipping

Actress Kate Hudson's trainer Nicole Stuart says that the "Almost Famous" star carries a skipping rope everywhere Hollywood Gossip she goes to make sure she works out everyday.

"Kate would be the first to tell you there's no magic pill or short cut and if you want a body like hers, you have to put in the work. That's all there is to it," Stuart told Look magazine.

Hudson, who has sons Ryder, 10, from her marriage to Chris Robinson, and Bingham, three, with former fiance Matt Bellamy, knows it is important to set aside time to "work up a sweat" everyday.

"She makes it a priority to take at least 20 minutes out of her day to work up a sweat, no matter how busy she is.

"She's very active anyway and loves things like dancing, yoga, boxing, hiking and playing tennis. But if she's not doing that, she's running around after her kids so there's not a day goes by where Kate does nothing at all.

"It's not that she loves working out, it's a part of her daily routine, like brushing her teeth and she's got over that hurdle of not being able to make herself do it," Stuart said.

Jennifer Aniston asks headwaiter to plan her nuptials

Actress Jennifer Aniston has reportedly asked a headwaiter to help plan her and fiance Justin Theroux's wedding.

"Jen has spent so much time at Sunset Tower over the years that she and Dimitri have become close friends. He personally escorts her in and out of a back entrance so she is never hounded by the paparazzi.

"Jen has put him in charge of the flowers and linens - anything that will make the party flow. Obviously he is running everything by her but she's relying on his expertise - and, most importantly, the fact he'll be discreet," a source told Grazia magazine.

The 46-year-old actress will also be getting assistance from other staff at the hotel for her big day, which is expected to take place at her Bel Air home this autumn.

"Dimitri has enlisted the hotel's chef, Leo, to take care of the food. But none of the vendors will know they are doing a wedding for Jennifer Aniston until the very last minute to ensure complete privacy. Dimitri is overseeing everything to make sure that it is perfect," the source added.

Charlize Theron rolled in dirt for film

Actress Charlize Theron says she rolled in Hollywood Gossip sand every morning before shooting started on "Mad Max: Fury Road" so she looked like she was living in a post-apocalyptic world.

The 39-year-old actress features as Imperator Furiosa in the forthcoming action movie and would prepare for shooting by covering herself in dirt in the arid landscape of Namibia.

"I got to show up 20 minutes before we went on set and I would walk out of my trailer in my wardrobe and roll in the sand, literally just roll," Theron told Total Film magazine.

Theron also took other deliberate steps to prepare for the role, including getting a buzz cut hairstyle which she had clipped every three days during filming.

Director George Miller said: "She called one day and said, 'I'm thinking of getting a buzz cut.' The moment she said that, I just thought, 'Brilliant'."

Theron, who is in a relationship with Sean Penn, also ensured she gained weight to play the character because she didn't want to look 'scrawny' opposite co-star Tom Hardy, who is taking on the titular role made famous by Mel Gibson.

"I wanted to look like I had tremendous upper body strength because there was so much physicality in the movie, especially with someone like Tom Hardy. I just hate that idea of scrawny little girls fighting men off and then winning. I looked like a football player in this movie," she said.

Sean Young won't be back for 'Blade Runner 2'
