Alberta Watson Dies; 24 Actress Was 60 Years Old




Alberta Watson  - a Canadian actress best known for her role in the hit Fox drama 24 - passed away on Saturday at the age of 60.
Hollywood Gossip Her family says Watson had been suffering from an undisclosed type of cancer for several years, and she had recently been admitted to hospice care.
In addition to her role as Erin Driscoll on 24, Watson appeared in more than 80 films and television series during her nearly 40 years in show business.
Despite her illness, she worked steadily up until 2013, most recently starring in the CW series Nikita. Watson reprised the role that she had originated in the original USA Network series, La femme Nikita.
Watson appeared in such films as Hedwig and the Angry Inch and The Lookout, but to American TV audiences, she will always be best remembered as the woman who once fired Jack Bauer.

ET Canada confirmed the news of Watson's passing today with a statement from her longtime agent:

"Alberta passed away Saturday evening at Kensington Hospice in Toronto. Her husband Ken was by her side. We await full details of a memorial service for her."
